I appreciate that you like my writing. However, the quality of my writer isn’t dependent on whether we agree on the facts. Or it shouldn’t.

I think you have bought into two pieces of narrative that have been strongly pushed by right-wing media. They are:

1. That Joe Biden is a doddering idiot, too old and useless to matter.

2. That Ron DeSantis is somehow a return to the old Republican Party.

Ron DeSantis is a product of the Trump takeover of the Republican Party. Maybe you’re okay with that, but he’s nothing more than fruit from the poisoned tree. There is nothing boilerplate about him.

He has bought into he Big Lie and is actively using it to suppress the vote of those who oppose him. He is pushing for a bill to criminalize peaceful protests. He just signed a bill to limit tenure for college professors he claims are indoctrinating students. His Don’t Say Gay bill is direct threat to civil rights, and the fact that he chose to penalize a corporate for speaking out is evidence of how far he is willing to go.

None of that is old school Republican behavior. It’s the new authoritarianism of the right.
