I think I’m going to write a whole piece about this very thing. I constantly come across these people. So-called independent voters who claim to be neither liberal or conservative, but that seem to have to worst inclinations of both sides. They’ll claim to be independent or libertarian, and they hate both parties. They rail against everything, but when push comes to shove, they’ll vote for a Republican willing to say “Fuck everyone.”

They’re not ideological. They’re just obstinate. They don’t have any answers, just complaints. It’s the fantasy of libertarianism where you get to be as selfish as possible without realizing how much infrastructure is needed to support your little delusion.

Your guy may or may not have been one of them. ;)
