In my experience the independent voter that is undecided or moveable is a myth. There is a huge percentage of the population that is registered as unaffiliated but almost none of them switch party allegiances. They caucus with one party or the other, they just don’t want to identify as one party or the other.

It is my belief that the issue in elections is GOTV. Who energizes their party to vote. You’re right. We’re not convincing anyone of anything, except one thing. That this election is important. That their vote is important.

If you can’t energize your base (a stupid term), then you will lose elections. Telling most Americans that democracy is at stake won’t move the needle unless they really start to believe it.

That’s what I believe. :)
