I’ve actually had a bit of success cold writing authors. I carried on a correspondence with Barbara Holland until she died. She wrote a lovely book called “Endangered Pleasures.” I also had some nice back and forth with Abigail Thomas a few years back, and then lost touch. Bill Bryson responded to my letter with an email because he said the post office in England was too far away.
