The response to this article has really been rather overwhelming. Part of me thinks, “This is the same sort of shit I’ve been writing about for years, so why is this getting all the attention?”

But another part keeps searching for why this was different, and if I should consider attempting more of the same.

There is no doubt that this has struck a cord with the readers of Medium, many of them older and often pursing creative endeavors, so that makes sense. Also, I was no doubt aided by some quirk of an algorithm or editor who saw fit to add this little bit to their outgoing mail. I’ll take it.
