There Will Be No Comfort In Being Right

The joyless result of being right about the downfall of man

We were right.

You can say it now. The evidence is in. The results are complete. The mystery is no more. All the things we suspected are true. Climate change is not only real, it’s worse than we thought. Voter fraud is nonexistent. Illegal immigration isn’t a defining factor in the domestic economy or the crime rate. The police really have been killing unarmed Black men for decades (or more) with impunity. Trickle down economics was a card trick that never worked. The drug war was a failure and a colossal mistake. The war on crime has decimated our urban population centers and done more damage than the original scourge ever could have. Healthcare is indeed a human right. Morality cannot be legislated. American was built on slavery. Racism is part of the fabric of our society. Religion has no place in government. America’s infrastructure is crumbling, after decades of neglect. Modern wars cannot be won conventionally through military might. Income inequality eventually leads to civil unrest. Republicans have no ideology and no new ideas, and therefore no intention of ever trying to govern.

Vaccines work.

A cranky romantic searching for hope and humor. I tell stories. Most of them are true. I’m not at all interested in your outrage, but I do feel your pain.
